I have always enjoyed singing and my first memories are singing in Sunday School productions when I was about 9 years old and in later in the Congregational Church choir and concert parties.
My taste in music was influenced by holidays in the pre-rock and roll years spent staying with relatives who were travelling showmen, (Taylors Fair). Frankie Laine, Johnny Ray, Guy Mitchell, Kay Starr, Winifred Atwell, and Mantovani were just some of the artists whose 78’s were played on the Panotrope. (See Note Below).
The arrival of Rock and Roll and my interest in Folk and Country music added them to my musical ‘palate’ which is reflected in the songs on my Ukulele-Joe web site.
Note: The Panotrope was one of the first systems to use electronics, (Valves), to amplify the recorded sound and replaced the organs previously used on fairground rides.
