The Super Lenton was one of Raleighs’ lightweight bikes built with Reynolds 531 tubing. The lustre red colour was officially ‘Lustre Royal Carmine’ It was my transport for most of my teen years taking me all over the Lake District, many fell and mine tracks as well as ‘normal riding over all the road passes and as far afield as Morecambe and Edinburgh.

I rode it with fixed wheel in the autumn/winter months and fitted gears for the warmer ones.

The photograph shows it with gears fitted and a Dynohub in the front wheel providing almost zero effort lighting.

Unfortunately the brazing failed on a rear lug and my brother took the frame to get it re-brazed. Unfortunately he backed over the frame with a lorry and it was only good for scrap.
